You know who I miss....

Darren Freaking Helm!



Yes I know he hasn't been gone for long, and we have made it through most of the season without him, but I still miss the guy.

I remember a while back someone wrote that he was like a coked up version of the 90's Draper, and I could not agree more. I am not even going to try to come up with a better analogy...NOTHING can top that!

When I think of Darren Helm one thing comes to mind. That stupid blue puck they used to have on TV (another great creation by you know who) for all of the people who apparently found it too difficult to follow the game....


Well I propose that they bring it back specifically for Helm, the guys all over the place!

Luckily Babs already said he should be in the playoffs...although we already knew that since Mikey is the President of the Darren Helm fan club. Although he may be struggling to split his time with his responsibility as the Vice President of the Ericsson fan club.....

No real point to this post, just got to thinking it would be nice to have his energy and speed back....


Yeah as far as the picture choice....just thought it was weird. I particularly like the people in the back ground....they are either very bored or seriously contemplating the logistics of what is taking place.

George over at Snapshots, pointed out that today's game will mark Homer's 800th NHL game (of course all of those were played with the Wings) and Danny Cleary will play in his 600th NHL game. Congrats to them both!

Cleary's work ethic and front net presence is apparently allowing him to steal some powerplay time from Mule. But he's pretty impressive on the pk as well...



For Homer I really wanted to find some video tribute to his ass....which apparently is hated by goalies and refs alike, but I was too lazy. So the below clip will have to do...nice to have him back.

Ok so I am lazy today. Apparently I have already checked out for the weekend. Expect any further posts to basically be incoherent rambling from an insane person, with a few youtube clips and pictures nicely dispersed between the madness. Despite the fact that I just started this blog, I don't really feel like posting a game day summary. The main reason is the Wings overall focus and apathy has now fully transferred over to me. (Yes I blame others for my shortcomings) That's right they bring their B game each night so will I. Since it's Thursday...

and Friday for me since I am OFF tomorrow, (ahhh yes we all enjoy the 3 day weekend) I thought I would post a special little video showcasing the musical stylings of one Alex Ovechkin. Hmmmmm could you imagine what beautiful sweet music the world would be privileged to if only Dats and Ovie recorded a duet?! True we would have NO idea what they were saying but the music would speak for itself...enjoy!

Conklin (starting)

First things first. Earlier today I dismissed Babcock's comment regarding alternating the goalies for home and aways games as his attempt to toy with us...maybe give us a little giggle. We at least deserve that right....

Well apparently he was at least slightly serious as he does in fact break his typical rotation and has ConkBlock starting on Thursday and Osgood starting on Saturday. If I am going to read between the lines, and as a nervous type I usually do...he is obviously concerned about the mentally fragile Osgood going up against the hot Flames. Apparently he is much more comfortable playing him against the Blues. I get where he is coming from, he needs his team to finally start to come together defensively, and a strong performance from ConkBlock on Thursday will go a long way. But will this further damage Osgood's confidence....who knows, just my paranoid thought. If this were not mid March, I would not even pay attention to the rotation, but it is...

Lebda's back in and Chelios is out. Obviously I agree with that. I like Lebda and Ericsson together. In theory anyway. Ericsson played very well positionally last night and was able to shake off his performance against Columbus last Saturday, a good sign. Plus with Lebda's speed and the fact that they can both jump into the play, they could work well together. Although I am sure the defensive pairings will be shuffled throughout the game again.

Looks like they are still easing Homer back into the line up. Which I get, I do. We don't want an injured Homer again, and the minutes he would be playing with Datsyuk and Zetterberg would be considerable. But I still think putting a player with Homer's specific talent on a line with Samuelsson and Kopecky is a waste....Hopefully he will be in tip top shape soon!

The best news from today is of course the impending return of one Marian Hossa! Yes folks, he is hoping to be back for Saturday's game against the blues. Which strangely enough is where is injury occurred. When I heard he would be back I did a little dance for my fellow coworkers, and it looked something like this! Please don't be intimidated by my mad skills!

Ahhh the Passion...Take that Phoenix!

Well I am thanking my lucky stars that I can walk into work today and sit in my cube with my smart ass smirk knowing that the Red Wings kicked some serious ass last night! They must have been soooo embarrassed from the 8-2 fuck fest in Columbus and the heat they received from their coach, captain, fans, and the media that they came to play! There was nothing but pure unadulterated passion! The excitement I witnessed is equivalent to that of a child waking up on Christmas morning! All I can say is I feel so bad for the Coyotes having to go through that ass beating!

Hmmmm well if you had the 'pleasure' of watching last nights game then I am sure you can see through the layers and layers of sarcasm and read the underlying sheer panic. At this point, what will it take for the Wings to shake their overall apathy?? Not rhetorical, I need answers! I need assurance they will get it together BEFORE the playoffs!

While the defense seemed to be tighter, they were still playing with a complete lack of passion. It seems as though they have nothing to play for.....ummm you know your fans are still here for you, cheering and hoping for another cup.....maybe you could shake your carefree attitude and try just a bit harder...at least so we aren't able to tell that you don't care....

I guess I can't say that everyone played with the passion of a wet mop. (Yes I know, stupid often used cliche, but if the Wings can't put in an effort, neither will I!) Filppula had a great game. He has really come into his own recently. Nice to see. Mule also played well. He FINALLY started driving hard to the net. I was glad that he got the over time game winner. You could tell he wanted it. The only thing is Franzen is just so streaking. He seems to be hot or not and a lot of that depends on what he feels like doing. I think the quote from Babs below pretty much sums that up....

"He always gives us grit and determination, he's always at their net," Babcock said regarding Holmstrom. "We haven't had enough of that. (Dan) Cleary's been going there, but we haven't had enough other people there."

But last night Mule put in a little hard work and got goal number 27! Ericsson played pretty well, he was actually in great position to stop the puck from going in after it snuck by Conkblock....still was not too thrilled with him and Chelios on the same line. Just a waste of Ericssons ability to jump into the offensive play.

Well I had planned on writing more and providing you with a deeper look into my intriguing mind, but at this point I really don't feel like it. Apparently the same passion the Wings have been displaying has passed on to me. I told you my mood can be irrationally dictated by these poor performances....So I will leave you with the below quote from Coach Mike. He was obviously joking, he was obviously being sarcastic....because if he were being honest like the beat writers made it seem, we might as well bend over...

"Maybe we'll have to play (Conklin) again (Thursday at home vs. Calgary)," Babcock said. "Ozzie might have to play on the road and (Conklin) might have to play here.
